Yes / No Tarot

by

Getting a quick answer from the cards is every Tarot reader’s dream. Should I end this relationship? Should I change jobs? Should I apply for that promotion? Tarot readings are all about questions and answers…so shouldn’t it be simple enough to discover whether to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to a situation?

If only it was that easy! But all situations are complicated, and it’s never as easy as yes or no. There are too many variables in life to ask for direction and have it answered by just one card. That’s why most Tarot readers use spreads involving ten or more cards, because that way they can see all the options involved and can work through all the areas of concern.

If someone asks, “Will my relationship improve?” you could do a yes/no reading. But it won’t solve any issues within the relationship. It won’t give any clarity about why the problem exists, how it can be improved, or how to avoid any drama resurfacing in the future.

Keeping all of that in mind, if you are still determined to try a Yes / No Tarot Reading for yourself, here are a couple of ways to do it.

1) Mix up your Tarot deck so that roughly half are reversed (up-side-down). Focus on your question, such as, “Will I receive the promotion I applied for?” Shuffle the deck and when it feels right to stop shuffling, deal the top card from the pack. If it shows itself upright, your answer is yes. If it lands reversed (the image facing you is up-side-down) then the answer is no. It doesn’t even matter what the card is, you don’t need to interpret it. All that matters is whether it’s upright or not.

2) A better way to get a yes/no response from the cards is to think of your question and choose a card from the deck: if it’s a positive one, then the answer is yes, and a negative one means a definite no. What if you are unsure if the chosen card is positive or negative? Then the answer is maybe.

The advantage of trying a yes/no Tarot reading is that it can be a good starting point for further questions. And you can then develop better questions to be used in bigger, more detailed spreads. A yes/no Tarot reading gives a fun bit of insight to a situation, but for more detailed guidance you’ll need a Tarot spread with lots of cards.
